MONITORS
Probably one of the biggest dilemmas today can be choosing between LCD and CRT monitor. LCD (liquid crystal display) are the new type of monitors that are very thin and use only a few inches of your desk, where CRT (cathode ray tube) monitors are the old kind of monitors that we are used to, that can use a substantial space of your desk, especially if over 17" in size, but are much cheaper than much prettier and more convenient LCD monitors.
For example, for the price of 15" LCD monitor, you can get a decent 19" CRT monitor.
My recommendation would be to get a decent 17" LCD monitor, but this can be somewhat tricky because LCD is fairly new technology and only the more expensive LCD monitors can perform as their CRT counterparts.
So if you have some extra cash get a quality 17" LCD monitor. If not, get a good old 19" CRT monitor with flat panel, which is a great choice, and today, extremely cheap. Today you can find a new and a decent one for less than $150, But make sure that you have enough space on your desk, because 19" monitors really use a lot of space,
For your reference, a LCD monitor will probably use around 10 inches of your desk space, and this because stand needs to be wide enough to provide good balance for the monitor. Monitor it self is probably around 2-3 inches deep.
CRT monitor will need anywhere from 16" to 20" of your desk width, and will weight much more, so generally you will pay more for shipping if you decide to buy it online.
If you can afford it, 17" LCD monitor would definitely be my recommendation. If you are really low on money, get a good 17" CRT monitor, with flat panel.
